Micheli’s recent multimedia work marks a thematic shift towards issues connected to the perception of nature, ontology of landscape and the understanding of science. Her latest grandiose oeuvre, conceived for the Biennale Gherdeina 6th, is a tour de force of a performance. Dolomieu – an opera in three acts for voices and orchestra with the participation of 15 solo singers and a choir – will be uniquely performed on the balconies of Ortisei’s pedestrian zone on the Biennale’s opening night. In this mature work – libretto by Micheli herself, musical score composed by Georg Malfertheiner – the artist narrates the adventurous life and groundbreaking work of French geologist, Deodat Dolomieu, the ‘Father of the Pale Mountains’ named after him, the Dolomites. Once again Micheli reveals her astounding writing skills, the fruit of thorough research and a talent for a storytelling, as well as a keen sense of dramaturgy embodied in a dynamic biographical take on the life and work of a scientist admired by Alexandre Dumas.

Gli ultimi lavori multimediali di Micheli segnano uno spostamento tematico verso problematiche legate alla percezione della natura, all’ontologia del paesaggio e alla comprensione della scienza. Il più recente, concepito apposta per la Biennale Gherdeina VI, è un tour de force performativo. Si tratta di Dolomieu, una grandiosa opera lirica in tre atti per voci e orchestra con la partecipazione di 15 cantanti solisti e un coro, messa in scena eccezionalmente sui balconi della zona pedonale di Ortisei nel corso della serata d’inaugurazione della Biennale. In questo lavoro maturo – libretto della stessa Micheli e musica di Georg Malfertheiner – l’artista racconta la vita avventurosa e le pionieristiche imprese del geologo francese Deodat Dolomieu, il “Padre delle montagne pallide”, dal quale le Dolomiti prendono il nome. Ancora una volta Micheli mette in mostra tutte le sue strabilianti capacità di scrittura, un insieme di esaurienti ricerche e grande talento narrativo, nonché compiute doti drammaturgiche, che danno vita a una dinamica interpretazione della vita e delle opere di uno scienziato già ammirato da Alexandre Dumas.

Biennale Gherdeina geschaffen hat, ist eine Performance-tour de force – Dolomieu – eine Oper in drei Akten für Stimmen und Orchester unter Mitwirkung von 15 Solisten und Chor, die einmalig am Eröffnungsabend der Biennale auf den Balkonen der Fußgängerzone in Ortisei aufgeführt wird. In dieser reifen Arbeit von Micheli, für die der Komponist Georg Malfertheiner die Musik geschrieben hat, erzählt die Künstlerin vom abenteuerlichen Leben und zukunftsweisenden Werk des französischen Geologen Deodat Dolomieu, dem Vater der Dolomiten, die nach ihm benannt wurden. Wieder einmal stellt Micheli ihre erstaunlichen Fertigkeiten beim Schreiben unter Beweis, ihr Talent für das Erzählen auf Basis gründlicher Recherche, und ihren genauen Sinn für Dramaturgie, der eine dynamische biografische Darstellung des Lebens und der Arbeit eines Wissenschaftlers der schon von Alexandre Dumas bewundert wurde, bietet.
